Canvas Files

38 STEPS
1. To access your course files, click Files in the course navigation
2. You can expand a folder in your files page. Click the dropdown arrow.
3. Click the arrow again to collapse the folder
4. Click the dropdown arrow to expand the Storyline folder
5. Let's explore a folder. Click Images.
6. You can set usage rights for individual files. Click the ( ! ) icon.
7. From the dropdown menu, select I hold the copyright.
8. Once you determine usage right, you can manage access to the file. Students have access to published files in the course. Unpublished are hidden from students. You can also schedule or make the file available with link. Click Publish.
9. Click Save
10. Click the kabob icon for more file options
11. You can download a file, send it to someone or copy it to a course, rename or move it, manage the rights, delete it or share it to Canvas Commons. Let's share this file with a colleague. Click Send To...
12. Type out a name and press Enter.
13. Click Send
14. Now let's create a new folder. Click Add Folder.
15. Type a name for the folder and press enter
16. Click Accept
17. You can upload files and folders into Canvas by clicking Upload
18. You can also insert files and folders by dragging and dropping them. Drag the zip file Canvas Orientation and drop it into the file section in Canvas.

19. Since this file is a zip file, you will have the option to expand it or upload it. If you expand it then it will extract all the individual files. If you upload it then it will keep the zip intact. Click Expand It.
20. The file will upload.
21. You move files around by dragging and dropping. Drag the file Spinning Panda.gif and drop it into the folder called Images.

22. The search bar at the top lets you Search for files.
23. Type panda and press Enter
24. Here are the results for all files with the word panda.
25. You can also access files for other courses by clicking All My Files.
26. You can add a file to a module. Click Modules.
27. Click Add Content
28. In the dropdown menu, click File
29. We're going to add a file we just uploaded. Click story.html
30. Click Add Item
31. Let's change the name of this item on the Module page. Click the kabob icon on the item story.html.
32. Click Edit
33. Type Orientation and hit Enter
34. Click Update
35. The paperclip icon to the left of the item indicates that it is a file, as opposed to a Canvas page or assignment. Click Orientation to view it.
36. Looks good! Now click Files.
37. To delete an item, click to highlight the item then click Delete.
