25 STEPS

1. Click the account icon in the global navigation.

2. Click Settings.

3. To change any of your settings, click Edit Settings

4. Let's change our time zone from Central to Eastern. Click the dropdown.

5. Select Eastern Time

6. Click Display Name:

7. Click Update Settings

8. Scroll down to review the features available to you. Click to toggle on the Microsoft Immersive Reader function.

9. Click Enabled

10. You can add additional email addresses to your account and determine how and where you are notified about course activity. Scroll up and click Add Email Address.

11. Here you would type out your email you want to register. Canvas will send your address a confirmation email. Note that you can also register a cell phone number to receive text notifications. Click Register Email.

12. Now let's click Notifications.

13. Click the account settings dropdown.

14. You can establish notification settings at your account level or for an individual course. Click any course from the dropdown.

15. Let's change a notification. Click the Notifications icon for the announcement course activity.

16. Select Notify immediately. You also have the option for daily or weekly summaries of announcements, or you can turn off the notification for that course activity.

17. Now let's click Profile.

18. Click the profile pic to upload or change it.

19. Here you have the options to upload a picture from your computer, take a picture using a webcam, or select a gravatar.

20. Click Edit Profile.

21. You can enter a Title.

22. You can also write a Biography

23. In the Links section, you can put links to websites, social media, blogs, YouTube channels, etc.

24. When you have finished updating your profile information, click Save Profile.

25. That's it. Those are the basic steps for setting up your Canvas profile. Note: it's very important to upload a profile pic. You will also want to encourage students to turn on notifications for announcements and set their time zone.
